The IOC is delaying the decision on the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Olympic Games

A few days ago, the IOC received a request from international summer sports federations to make a decision in the near future on the issue of the participation of Russian athletes in a neutral status. Many representatives of continental NOC associations spoke out that athletes in different parts of the world are against the actions of governments being reflected in international competitions. Emma Terho also emphasized that strict qualification criteria must be applied in all Olympic sports where neutral Russian athletes can participate.

Valentina Rodionenko, senior coach of the Russian artistic gymnastics team, is outraged by the delay in the IOC decision and is sure that all this is happening on purpose. The mentor of Russian gymnasts considers performing in a neutral status a humiliating condition for our athletes.

In March, it was announced that Belarusians and Russians who are not related to and do not support the SVO will be allowed to compete. But the Russian Olympic Committee did not receive an official invitation to the Paris Olympics 2024, and in the fall the news about the removal of the ROC was made public due to the inclusion of the Zaporozhye, Kherson regions, LPR and DPR in the Olympic committees. In turn, the Russian committee filed an appeal, registered on November 6 by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
