Stade de la Beaujoire

Description

Stade de la Beaujoire—Louis Fonteneau is an iconic sports ground in the city of Nantes, France. Opened in 1984, it became the home arena of the prestigious Nantes football club.

Construction of the stadium was completed for the 1984 European Football Championship, and two matches of the group stage of the tournament were held here. At that time, the stadium's capacity was 52,923 spectators. On June 16, the national teams of France and Belgium played at the Beaujoire, and 4 days later - Portugal and Romania. At the first of these matches, a stadium attendance record was set - 51,000 spectators.

In 1995, the French team played again in Nantes, defeating Slovakia in the qualifying tournament for the 1996 European Championship.

After the World Cup, Beaujoires did not lose its status as one of the leading sports arenas in France. In 2001 and 2007, the stadium hosted matches of the country's football team.

In addition, the 1998 FIFA World Cup was not the last major tournament in the history of the stadium. Nine years later, France hosted the Rugby World Cup, and Beaujoires hosted three group stage matches.

The Beaujoir-Louis Fontenot Stadium is not only a sports arena, but also a place where various cultural and entertainment events take place. Here you can enjoy exciting football matches, concerts of famous artists and other exciting events.
