Paris 2024 Summer Olympics

Champ De Mars Arena

Description

Champ De Mars Arena, also known as the Grand Palais Ephemeral, is an impressive temporary event venue located on the Champ de Mars in Paris. This unique structure was designed by the famous architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte and built in 2021 by order of the Union of National Museums and the Grand Palace of the Champs-Élysées, as well as the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

The Arena Champs de Mars was created as a temporary replacement for the Grand Palace, which is under reconstruction. It will become the main venue for the Olympic Games in Paris.

Located in the south-eastern part of the Champs de Mars, the Grand Palais Ephemeral offers amazing views of the Eiffel Tower, which borders the park. Its cruciform structure is parallel to the Ecole Militaire, and one side of the building is adjacent to Place Joffre. The majestic monument to Marshal Joseph Joffre, located on the edge of the Champs de Mars, has been superbly integrated into the entrance hall of the Grand Palais-Ephemeral on Place Joffre.

During the 2024 Olympic Games, the Champ de Mars will host an additional competition between the Grand Palais-Ephemeral and the Eiffel Tower at the Eiffel Tower Stadium, which is also a temporary open-air stadium.
